Hi. I am Jason.

Jason, the owner of AeroLanding, initially purchased a 55G, a Cessna 172 airplane, personal use, but quickly saw an opportunity to provide a quality aircraft to his cohorts for flight instruction, instrument training, and time building. AeroLanding fleet has now grown to five aircraft that not only supports rotorcraft military aviators transitioning to fixed-wing, but also benefits enlisted soldiers utilizing the Army COOL program. Civilian aviators also choose AeroLanding for their flying needs.

In addition to running his residential real estate business with his wife Jackie, Jason is employed at Fort Novosel (formerly Ft Rucker), focusing on future aviation research and development, while concurrently serving in the Army Reserves.

Private Pilot License

Earn your Private Pilot License

Wither you are a street to seat initial private pilot student or a military aviator adding to your commercial helicopter ratings, a private pilot certificate is like a driver's license. It allows you to fly almost anywhere in the United States, even back home for the holidays. You can carry any number of passengers, and you can share certain operating expenses with your passengers. You might take the family on a trip to see relatives in a distant state or use an airplane to shorten the time it takes to make business trips to another city. Or fly to Destin or the coastal corridor and grab a hamburger or seafood with your cohorts or family.

Restrictions

One restriction to a private pilot's freedom of flight comes from Mother Nature—the weather. While you can fly in some weather conditions, others require additional training. For instance, as a private pilot, you can't fly in the clouds unless you earn an instrument rating.

With a private pilot certificate, you can fly at night as long as you have received the required night training. This training is typically included in the private pilot training curriculum. Without a doubt, a crystal-clear, moonlit night is one of the most spectacular and beautiful times to fly.

Requirements:

  • 40 hours minimum total time
  • 20 hours dual instruction
  • 3 hours flight "by reference to instruments" (under the hood)
  • 5 hours solo cross country (50nm minimum between two points along each trip)
  • One solo 150nm XC flight with at least 3 airports (two of which must be at least 50nm apart)
  • 3 hours night flight (dual instruction)
  • One night XC (dual)
  • 10 night landings (full stop)
  • 3 hours of dual instruction explicitly for check ride prep, within 60 days of the checkride
  • Endorsements for the items above needing endorsements
  • An endorsement from a CFI stating the candidate is prepared for the checkride

Commercial Pilot Certificate

If you are already a rotary-wing commercial pilot through the FAA military competency, you have completed many of the requirements for a fixed-wing commercial certificate.

Even if you don't plan to fly for a living, working on your commercial pilot certificate is a great idea. Like the instrument rating, the commercial certificate hones your basic flying skills. Essentially, you perform many of the same maneuvers as in private pilot training, but with greater precision. The margin for error on the commercial check ride (an airborne driving test) is much narrower than on the private check ride.

Gain Confidence in the Sky

The written exam, while similar to the private pilot test, is more difficult and covers additional areas related to commercial aviation. Candidates must perform more complex maneuvers and demonstrate greater smoothness and precision than required for a private pilot. They must also show additional flying experience, including significant cross-country flight time to airports other than their home base. While the commercial certificate is a necessary step for those planning to fly professionally, it is also an excellent way for recreational pilots to gain increased confidence and become more professional in the cockpit.

Requirements:

  • 250 hours Minimum Flight Time
  • 100 hours in Powered Aircraft
  • 100 hours Pilot in Command
  • 50 hours Cross-Country Flight
  • 20 hours Dual Instruction
  • 10 hours Instrument Training
  • 10 hours Complex Aircraft Training
  • 4 hours Cross-Country Flight
  • 3 hours Practical Test Preparation
  • 10 hours Solo
  • 5 hours Night VFR
  • 1 Solo Cross Country Flight of at least 300NM

Certified Flight Instructor

At AeroLanding, we would love to hire you and help you grow your flight time as you train the next generation of aviators. So, if you decide to fly for a living, chances are you'll start out as a certified flight instructor, and we want it to be with AeroLanding. It's in the cockpit of cramped trainers that most civilian-trained professional pilots pay their dues before moving on to corporate aviation, commuter airlines, and the holy grail for many aspiring professional pilots—the major airlines.

Why Become a Certified Flight Instructor?

While many see flight instructing to build flight time on the path to airline jobs, it is arguably the most important job in aviation. The future of the industry—and the safety of the skies—depends on those who train the pilots. Your first instructor will leave lasting impressions that will shape your entire flying career. Fortunately, nearly all instructors are acutely aware of the importance of their role.

Requirements:

  • Commercial Certificate
  • Proficiency Based

Instrument Rating

If you're an instrument-rated Army Aviator, this rating will reinforce what you already know, but with an emphasis on applying those skills to flying an airplane.

Adding an Instrument Rating to your private certificate is challenging and no small accomplishment, but the benefits are tremendous. From a practical standpoint, if you are using an airplane for point to point transportation, it allows you to fly on days when the weather is less than perfect (i.e. into IMC or instrument meteorological conditions).

Become a Safer Pilot

An instrument rating doesn't necessarily make you a better pilot, but it does make you a safer one and teaches you to fly with greater precision. It also provides extensive exposure to the ATC (Air Traffic Control) system and is a required step if you plan to pursue a Commercial or CFI rating in the future.

Requirements:

15 hours add-on to a helicopter instrument certificate.

40 hours of actual or simulated instrument time which includes:

  • A minimum of 15 hours of instrument flight training from a Certified Flight Instructor (CFII)
  • Up to 20 hours of the instrument training may be accomplished in an approved flight simulator or flight training device if the training was provided by a CFII.
  • At least one cross-country flight performed under IFR of at least 250 NM along airways or ATC-directed routing
  • An instrument approach at each airport
  • Three different kinds of instrument approaches
  • At least 50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot in command, which can include solo cross-country time as a student pilot. Each cross-country must have a landing at an airport that is at least a straight-line distance of more than 50 NM from the original departure point.

Time Building

Airplane time building involves conducting flights and logging flight hours to increase your total flight time. This process is crucial for pilots looking to advance their careers, as accumulating more flight hours opens up opportunities for higher certifications and professional flying jobs. By flying regularly, you not only improve your skills but also meet the flight hour requirements for advanced ratings and certifications.
